Looked after children
When care
doesn’t care
Stopping the cycle of
abuse in care
The UK’s care system successfully protects some of the most vulnerable
children in our society. But on those occasions when it lets children down,
who’s there to look out for them?
For many, care offers the protection that all children deserve.
It provides them with new opportunities to grow up and
shape their lives positively.
But in some care environments, children are unfortunately
put at risk of continuing abuse – from other young people,
from their carers and even from their parents, from whom
they are supposed to be protected.
They deserve better: we owe them the highest quality care
and the NSPCC is working to improve their experiences and
keep them safe from harm.
We are determined to stand up for children in care whenever
they need our help. Thanks to your support, we’re helping
more vulnerable children experience care as somewhere they
start to enjoy a safer, happier childhood.
